Ho Chi Minh’s Commemorative Monument to be built in Khammouane ថ្ងៃសៅរ៍ 22 ខែ​ឧសភា 2010

(KPL) The Lao government has agreed to build a monument for late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh to commemorate and pay a tribute to his great contribution to Lao revolutionary movement.

The statement was made by Vice-President Bounnhang Vorachith on 19 May in the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh�s Monument held in Siengvang village, Nongbok district, Khammouane province.

On the occasion, Mr Ho Duc Viet, CPV CC Politburo member and Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam Organisation Commission also attended the event.

This was a remarkable political track of late president Ho Chi Minh- known as Nuyen Ai Quoc who had once joined the Lao revolutionary movement between 1928 and 1929.

Mr Souvandy Sisavath, Head of the Committee in charge of late Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane�s Museum, said that the Ho Chi Minh�s monument was a remarkable political commemoration in Laos.

He also called on Lao and Vietnamese people to commemorate the way of life and great obligation of Uncle Ho Chi Minh who dedicated his life to the revolutions of the two nations, Laos and Vietnam.

Besides Khammouane province, the Lao government also plans to build more similar monuments in Savannakhet and Vientiane Capital, Mr Souvandy said. The construction of Ho Chi Minh�s Monument on 15,129 sqm, will include a shrine and an exhibition hall made in Vietnamese style.

After the completion, the monument will be a venue for study, tourist site and relaxation area for local residents as well as foreign and local visitors.
